*Some courses will have an additional charge for leather or cotton straps and handles according to the number and length used, this should be paid to the tutor at the end of each course.

Weaving by the Sea Autumn School is followed by

Salt International Basketmakers Fair near Girona,  
Saturday & Sunday, 3rd & 4th October 2026. Further details below. 

Our booking process & policy:

Booking opens on Saturday 10th January 2026 at 14.00 CET (Central European Time)

You will be notified of your course reservation within 24 hours

No pre-booking will be accepted

• To book your workshop places at Weaving by the Sea's Spring and Autumn Schools 2026 please make your selection from the courses listed above and email your preferences to Mai Hvid Jørgensen at mai@skovflet.dk 
• Once you have received confirmation from Mai of your workshop reservation, you should then secure your place by making a non-refundable deposit of 185 euros, Mai will send you details of how to make the payment. 
• As soon as you have confirmation of your workshop place and paid your deposit you should contact Hotel Cesar to book your accommodation. Weaving by the Sea is a residential event and we can only accept workshop bookings from participants that will stay in Hotel Cesar. 
  
• A request for the final payment of 180 euros will be sent to you at the end of February for the Spring School and the end of June for the Autumn School.

Cancellations:

• The first workshop deposit is non-refundable.
• If you need to make a cancellation of your workshop place after the second payment has been made we will refund your second payment if we are able to find a participant to replace you.
• We are unable to make any refunds within 2 weeks of the event as at this stage it is difficult to find participants and for them to make short notice travel arrangements.

Pricing:

The price for each three day course is 365€ per person including:

• three days tuition (10.00am - 12.45pm and 2.00pm - 5.00pm approx)

• basket making materials (There will be an additional charge for leather or cotton straps if required)

• Lunch - 3 course buffet lunch each workshop day with vegetarian & fish/meat options, wine and coffees included. 
  
• plus coffee, tea and water during the course.

Accommodation

Hotel Cesar, Vilanova i La Geltru near Barcelona, Spain. 

Weaving by the Sea 2026 will be hosted once again at the lovely Hotel Cesar only minutes from the beach and town centre of Vilanova i La Geltru a short bus or train journey from Barcelona airport. The Hotel Cesar is a family run hotel with traditional ambiance, excellent teaching spaces and a rooftop terrace.

Please note Weaving by the Sea is a residential course and we are unable to offer course places to those who do not stay at Hotel Cesar.

 

The cost of accommodation is additional to your workshop fee and should be booked directly with Hotel Cesar - details and prices of this may be obtained from Mai upon booking. Please note we have arranged a special price that is very good value with the hotel as a group booking that is not available to regular customers. Please book your room at Cesar Hotel as soon as possible after you have received confirmation of your workshop place.

Other details: 

 

Where: Vilanova I la Geltru, a seaside town located 50km south from Barcelona within easy reach of Barcelona El Prat Airport. 

 

Vilanova i La Geltru is a coastal town with good weather and a friendly pedestrian town centre. A wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars provide ample evening entertainment and friendly outdoor spaces away from the tourism and bustle of Barcelona.

Travel: You will need to make your own arrangements. We will provide information about the easy travel possibilities by train and bus between Barcelona airport and Vilanova i la Geltru and the basket fair in Salt, Girona.

Tools: All tools are provided for our courses, however if you prefer to use some of your own tools do bring them along.

 

Weaving by the Sea Autumn School is followed by Salt International Basketmakers Fair near Girona, Saturday & Sunday, 3rd & 4th October 2026

The fair offers you the chance to see a great variety of techniques and materials used by the many Catalan, Spanish and international makers present plus demonstrations, exhibitions, activities and workshops.

If you would like to attend the fair you should arrange accommodation in Salt or Girona after Weaving by the Sea - or if you prefer you may also stay on at Hotel Cesar and travel up to Salt by train as a day trip.
