We hope you have a nice time in Vilanova i la Geltrú, there are many things to enjoy and to explore. In order to make this a bit easier for you, we have below some recommendations of bars, restaurants and shops, that we think you might like. Everything is at a walking distance in Vilanova.
Restaurants:
In the sea neighbourhood (Barri de Mar):
- "El Nus", Rambla de la Pau 71. Traditional fishermen’s food menu.
-"L'Oganpetit" address: Carrer Ferrer i Vidal 16 (near Rambla de la Pau). Food from the world, very good ‘menu del día’ at lunch time and nice in the evenings too.
- "La Llotja", address : Ps. Ribes Rojes 1 (Ps. Maritim). Very good for fish, seafood and paella.
- "Solvi Hotel" Cocktail Bar , Passeig Roges 1, 5th floor. Bar at the roof terrace of the hotel, to have a drink with great views!
- "El Nàutic", Escullera de ponent s/n. Restaurant in the Nautic Club in the harbor.
- "Bar Teo Chiquito 2", Carrer de les Canàries 7. Typical fishermen bar.
In town:
-"El Celler de Can Sola", address: Plaça de la Vila 4 (main square). This is a wine cellar that also works as a bar. Very nice to have a glass of wine and some snacks. It is a tradition in Vilanova to meet there for a glass of wine before dinner, very sociable.
-"La Puput", address: Carrer Santa Madrona 33. Nice atmosphere, good food and wine. Very nice ham and bread with tomato and other local specialties.
- "Lotus", address: Plaça Lledoners 1. Small restaurant in a beautiful square in the old town of La Geltrú. Good for salads, toasts, some specialties and nice desserts. Lovely to eat outdoors.
- "Genito", Carrer St.Joan 35. Nice tapas, and specialties. Very good service & quality.
- "La Cava" wine bar. Plaça de les Cols 7. Very nice wine and tapas, you can eat outdoors in the square.
- "Can Pizza", Rambla Principal 3 (up the rambla near the church). If you fancy Italian food , this is the nicest. Book a table on the roof terrace!
- "Dolç i Salat", Plaça de Soler i Carbonell 2 (this is the square where the market is), lovely coffee shop with their own homemade delicious pastries and sandwiches. Great coffee.
- "Temps de Recovery", C/de la Llibertat 4, new coffee shop in Vilanova, run by a young couple that make fantastic breakfasts and brunches, sweet and savory options, teas and juices.
Ice Creams
There are very nice ice creams in Vilanova and also some very typical vegetable sweet milk we call "Orxata". Orxata is made of tiger nuts, you can have it sweet or without sugar, and also very nice mixed with lemonade, then called "mig-mig".
- "Tutti-frutti", address: Rambla de la Pau 53. Best place for ice creams, locally made.
- "Gelats Llorenç" , address: Rambla Principal 51 (in town), Ps.Maritim 30 (sea neighbourhood). Good place for Orxata .
-"Artic Gelats", Plaça de les Cols, beautiful locally made ice creams.
Some Shops (Remember many shops in Spain close from 14 to 17hrs.):
- The Market, open every morning till 14hrs, also evenings from 17 to 20hrs on Tuesday and Friday. Saturday morning there is also an outdoor market. We highly recommend a visit, you can find lots of local products such as olives, Spanish cured ham, vegetables etc.…
- "Aviñó", address: Carrer Francesc Macià 24 (near the market). Good wine shop.
- "Espigol", address: Rambla de la Pau 103. Very well assorted organic products shop.
- "Catanies Cudie", address: Carrer de Sant Sebastià, 18, they sell this typical chocolates with almonds, called Catania, made in this region.
And two good traditional bakers:
-"Quim Pa!", address: Plaça dels Cotxes, 6
- "L'Espiga d'Or", address: Plaça de Soler I Gustems 10 and Carrer del Comerç 15 (this one with coffee shop too.)
